Gaelic games may be an amateur sport, but our athletes are far from amateur.  The physical requirements of being an inter-county player has changed greatly since inter-county competitions began.

Earlier this year we ran an online competition for the Women’s Six Nations in aid of the three Connacht hospices. The competition had two objectives; to raise some much needed funds for the region and to give the Irish women’s team more visibility and showcase their names.

This Wednesday, the 15th of September, marks the celebration of Online Learning Day. As the pandemic struck, online learning became engraved into the lives of many people, for better or for worse.

With the majority of employees working from home since March 2020 and a workforce which has doubled in size since then, an “in-person” gathering (in a wide outdoor space for COVID compliance) was definitely in order. 

Sport should be fun. It should be a release, a safe place of enjoyment where no matter what is going on off the pitch. When we are training or playing games it’s a place to smile, to be active and to have fun.

The Clubforce team was delighted when Pieta House confirmed last week we had raised €2058.50 for the charity during the Darkness Into Light Campaign in 2021.
